I wanted to create an object from another era, something that could stand out from the pieces typically made in jewelry, something that could be worn during the time of Empress Maria Theresa of Austria, just as it can be worn today.
The jewelry piece was inspired by one of the most characteristic aesthetic details of the 18th century:
“Hairstyles.”
Both men and women of that era paid great attention to their appearance and clothing. It was the century of a new, distinctive, and unmistakable fashion: faces were brightened with powder, silk stockings were worn, shoes with buckles, but above all, wigs were used to create often extravagant hairstyles.
For some women, hairpins and hair accessories were everyday objects, and when transformed into jewelry, they could be worthy of an empress…
Technical description:
Made of 925/1000 silver, with enamels and freshwater pearl, the jewelry piece was handcrafted by modeling wax. After shaping the form in wax, it was cast in metal using the lost-wax microfusion process, then finished, polished, and enameled.
